Defacing the Devil | Skot Wers

Introduction

This collection of poetry chronicles over seven years of living Gnosis. The poems themselves are messages that arose through inspiration and were captured, purified, and shared. As Gnosis is exactly sharing in Love, the messages are for two to share as one, and for one to Know as Self. It speaks to sweetness and kindness, fun and frolic, shenanigans and escapades, and the melting together with another. It’s a Love story that’s told linearly in time, yet disjointed in realization.

As no good Love story is complete without an exorcism or two, the writing speaks of inherent imbalance within the parent archetype—Father Time (esotericism, meritocracy) versus Mother Nature (materialism, dependence)—utilizing language from both, exposing a contrived divide. It speaks to the disillusionment of symbolism, the rejection of esotericism and meritocracy as paths to unconditional Love, and the construction and deconstruction of identity and worldviews. It speaks to the mechanics and intent of addiction, the sameness of religiosity and gatekeeping, and how myriad psychological disorders are rooted in self-sacrifice. It speaks to Love—as well as innocence and forgiveness—as Self-determined and realized through sharing. It speaks to the transformative power of truth. It is a Love story.
